Woodgreen v. Cadnam Sat 3rd August 2019
By Dave Naish
A welcome win!
Woodgreen played Cadnam at home in their Hampshire league division three south game on Saturday and won for only the second time this season.
Cadnam won the toss and decided to field. Woodgreen's innings had an early loss at 7 for 1 but recovered with a 123 run 2nd wicket stand from 29 overs between stand in skipper Russell ( 81 from 99 balls and 16 fours) and Jon ( 39 off 78 balls with 7 four). Unfortunately both were out within 3 runs of each other with the score on 133 for 3 in the 33rd over. Only two other batsmen reached double figures - Andy P (23) and Renner's (15) helped the score to 189 all out off the last ball of the 45th over. Vikram Lahoria was Cadnams main wicket taker with 3 for 13 from 9 overs.
Cadnam's reply started badly losing a wicket on the first ball of the innings, for the second week running by Jay, who bowled his 9 overs straight off taking 2 for 16. After the opening bowling attack of 12 overs the visitors were wobbling at 26 for 4 with only opener Sam Godfrey (11) making double figures. Wickets kept falling as the innings collapsed to 36 for 7 and then 52 for 8 before the last 2 wickets added 47 runs with Vikram Lahoria (16), Toby Rigby (23) and Anton George (14 not out) scoring freely taking the total to 99 before the last wicket fell after 33.3 overs and a win by 90 runs. Jason taking a suberb 5 wicket haul from 9 overs and 25 runs - 3 for 13 in his first spell of 6 overs. Other wicket takers were Joshy Jose - playing his first game for the club with 1 for 11, Matt (1 for 16) and Jon (1 for 21).
