Mudeford v. Woodgreen Sat 27th July 2019
By Dave Naish
A fighting performance!
Woodgreen travelled to Mudeford for the 4th year running and after winning the toss decided to bat first and after losing an early wicket at 3 for 1 and the second at 24 recovered slightly. Renners (13) out at 49 for 3, Stuart (34) was 4th out at 55, then two wickets fell at 75 to be 75 for 6 before a 64 run 7th wicket stand between Andy (47 off 70 balls with 10 fours) and skip Pete (35 not out from 65 balls with 4 fours) took the visitors to 139 for 6. Unfortunately the 4th batting point was just out of reach as the innings finished on 148 for 8 after 45 overs. Four Mudeford bowlers took 2 wickets each.
Mudeford's reply started with a wicket off the first ball of the innings but double figure scores from Alan Bethune (12) and James Harris (18 - run out by a direct hit by Edward Nash
) took the score onto 70 for 4 in the 20th over. Ian Gardner (42) and George Boulton (26) put on 56 for the 5th wicket taking the score onto 126 for 5. The winning runs were reached at 149 for 6 after 34.1 overs with a no ball with the home side trying to reach 150 for the extra batting point. Woodgreens wicket takers were Jay (2 for 24 from 9 overs including 10 wides), Jason ( 1 for 27 off 9 overs), Jon Nash
(1 for 24) and Andy Renshaw
(1 for 32).
