Another close one!
Woodgreen travelled to Bashley for their Hampshire League div. 3 south match and lost a close game by 3 wickets. Winning the toss skip Pete
decided to bat and the innings started well with an opening stand of 28 between Jason (15) and Rich (21). The innings was then built around no.3 bat Stuart with a fine 60 but he watched 4 wickets fall for 25 runs, WCC going from 65 for 1 to 90 for 5, before he was 6th out at 127. It was left then for Jack (46) to boost the score, he shared in a good stand of 42 with Ed (17) for the 8th wicket to take the score past 175 and the 5th batting point. The 9th wicket fell off the last ball of the 45th over to end on 180 for 9. Bashley's main wicket taker was Tom Saunders with
3 for 38.
Bashleys reply lost both openers by the 5th over at 20 for 2, with Mike O'Sullivan (17) the main scorer, Saif Achakazai (17) was 3rd wicket to
fall at 53, with all 3 wickets falling to Jay who finished his 9 overs with 3 for 30, he was also responsible for the 4th wicket to fall with a
direct hit to run out Jack Harris (16). Bashley's innings was also built around one batsman, no.4 Sam Scott, who finished on 74 not out. He held the innings together when faltering at 128 for 6, then adding a match winning stand of 48 for the 7th wicket with Sam Laurent (27), the winning hit at 183 for 7 came in the 40th over. Other wicket takers for Woodgreen were Rich (1 for 15 from 6 overs), Pete 1 for 38) and Jason (1 for 41- 1 for 14 in 2nd spell of 5 overs).
