Reports from the AGM

Saturday Captains Report

This season has been a particularly difficult one but we managed eventually to finish 12th which I feel is a great effort by all, many congratulations to Jon Nash (Mr Consistent) who finished 6th in the league batting averages with an Ave.46.20 also Chas Potts who sneaked into the league bowling averages very well done with 18 wkts @ 26.61

I must also thank as well Sue for all the work she puts in, especially at home games, Karen yet another season looking after us with the book which is second to none, also thanks to Gordonwhen we've needed a stand in, Graham Cross / Dave Parker for all the umpiring they've done this is very much appreciated by the team. Pete, Ray, Dave for all their work on the wicket outfield etc. which makes it one of the loveliest grounds to play and obviously we can't forget our Tea ladies @ gents who provide every season the best teas by far in the league (my opinion) Also can't forget our BBQ chefs Phillippa, Chas seemed to be always cooking but provided us with much needed income.

As for on the pitch this year this was particularly difficult for me, as we just couldn't seem to get a consistent team out each week but I must say we managed it every week and my thanks to all that played this year I hope everyone still enjoyed their cricket!!!

I feel it's a matter of urgency however to try and recruit more players for next season young or old preferably young! If anyone knows of anybody that we can get please let me know or whoever's in charge next season this I feel is very important.

Having just said all that for me I really still enjoy the way that we play the game and I really do enjoy telling you all what to do each week (as if you take any notice of me) Don't forget Tails Never Fails.

Sunday Manager Report

The season went well despite the wet start and we finished winning 6, losing 4 and 3 were cancelled due to the weather.

It wasn't too bad getting a side each game, just a couple of dates that clashed where I struggled but on the whole I was pleased with availability.
I did my best to make sure any youngsters that were available got a game but that was limited - this is not good for the future unfortunately. Jack Griffiths and Guy Lucas were always first to be asked and later in the season Josh Ayers so apart from Laurence, Josh Bishop and Ben we are a 'veterans' side.

It is always a difficult task in getting teas sorted but I had great help from Sarah Potter, Jo & Holly Ayers, Pauline Naish plus Laurence/Julia Harding with cakes. Of course must mention my bankers for sandwiches:- Alan, Chaz, Jim, Grouter, Julia and Pauline. Many thanks to all and sorry if I've forgotten anyone.

Also thanks to Pete for preparing the wickets, Ray for the outfield and Gord for the boundary line and scoring each game.

Hopefully 2015 will be similar with our happy band of lads plus a few new additions to the squad- depending on how much I'm allowed in the transfer market! Anyone looking for a game whether Saturday league or Sunday friendly please get in touch.

Although the club had a good year financially the club is concerned over future outlay and running costs. Club insurance is nearly £2000 per year (mainly due to the pavilion build of timber/thatch) and the artificial practice strip needs repair and a quote of £2500 has been received . More fundraising will be required if the club is to survive.

Secretary's Report

A reasonable season in the league and a good financial return despite the downpour on Bank Holiday Monday resulting in a decrease in Fete profits.

The wider scene has seen the demise of several local clubs including Wellow and Swan Green with others in difficulty. Due perhaps to larger clubs 'pinching' players and youngsters having alternative interests.

New rules and regulations keep making life difficult now we have to keep records of winter visits to the pavillion plus register all chemicals used on the pitch (when, why and where!). My thanks to Chaz Potts for handling some of these problems following a recent meeting with the Forestry. Also thanks to Dave Naish as club e-mail contact.

Overall more members have played a part in keeping the Club vibrant. We were lucky the serious house fire on the Common was on a night when the wind took the potential damaging debris just far enough away from the pavilion roof.

The treasurer Steve Richards could not make the AGM but his report shows the club made a profit last year which unfortunately will be swallowed up by insurance, pavilion electrics upgrading and machinery servicing. Steve has given the club a years notice to find another treasurer as he is intending to resign at the end of the 2015 financial year. If there is anyone out there who could spare time and get involved in the club we would be grateful.
